From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
